YouTube Is Rolling Out Picture in Picture Mode For iOS Devices

Ever gotten into an iPhone vs Android argument and someone brings up the picture in picture mode point also known as PIP. As an iPhone user, that point would shut you up at least till you can figure out another way to get back into the talk.

YouTube is now rolling out the PIP mode to iOS devices so now you’d stand a chance next time you get into any iPhone vs Android argument. Android users can testify to this feature’s awesomeness as it allows you to keep watching a specified video even after closing YouTube’s screen.

How does it Work?

After closing the YouTube screen, the video will appear in a small windows default at the bottom of your device’s screen. This window is moveable i.e can be moved to any corner of your device’s screen and can also be resized.

But here’s the catch and why you don’t want to get into another Android vs iPhone argument with this feature, it only comes with the YouTube premium subscription. The feature is only available to iOS users on the YouTube premium subscription although the company stated that it has plans to expand it to all iPhone users in the U.S soon.

“Picture in Picture (PiP) allows users to watch YouTube videos in a small mini player while simultaneously browsing outside of the YouTube app on their mobile device. We’re starting to roll out the Pip FOR YouTube premium members on iOS and plan to launch the PiP for all U.S iOS users as well.” YouTube stated.
